LTAB-Tacoma 2018 Team Registration

Welcome to the TEAM Registration for Louder Than a Bomb-Tacoma 2018! We’ve got a great season of LTAB events lined up, which you can find by clicking on LTAB 2018 Schedule.

There are two mandatory events for all poets and coaches:

  1. April 14 (11am-2pm): Crossing the Street Pre-slam event. A gathering of all the teams and independent poets. (Post Office, 1102 A St.). Please arrive by 10:30 a.m.
  2. April 28 (Bouts begin at 9am): LTAB Poetry Slam. (Tacoma Community College) Each team will appear in two preliminary bouts (one at 9am and one at 12pm). The top four teams out of all the bouts will appear in finals. Individual poets whose teams aren’t going to finals will be invited to perform at finals as an indy.

A few notes about the slam format…

LTAB Posters_final (Print Ready3)-page-002Each bout (including finals) will be four rounds: one four-piece group piece and three individual poet rounds. (One of the three individual poet rounds can be a duo.)

There are five judges, each giving a score from 1-10. We drop the highest and lowest scores and add the middle three. (Ex.- A poet getting scores of 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10 would have the total score of 27 [8.5+9.0+9.5].)  A team’s score will be all the poets’ from that team added together.

There are three basic rules for LTAB: 1) Poems should be three minutes or less, 2) no props are allowed, and 3) no inflammatory or vulgar language is allowed in the poems. If you have questions, let us know!

The Registration Form is below. Please include all required information. You must have a minimum of four poet to field a team and can have up to 10 official poets on the team.

Registration forms are due to Write253 by March 15th in order to guarantee your spot in the slam on April 28.

You must also provide a photo/video release form (found here) for all poets and coaches who are okay with being photographed. (If you are not okay with it, that’s all right, we’ll do our best to shoot around you.) You must bring filled out forms to Crossing the Street on April 14.
