WordPlay is a series of workshops for teen writers and spoken word artists that seeks to collaborate with community organizations around writing and performing.

Throughout the fall, we will be holding workshops at our space in Hilltop, as well as in spaces throughout the community. So far, we’ve confirmed:

OCTOBER 5, 5 p.m.: A writing workshop at King’s Books (218 St. Helens) as part of Creative Colloquy Crawl. The workshop will be led by the winning Louder Than a Bomb-Tacoma team from Gig Harbor. Following the workshop, we’ll have an open mic at the store.

OCTOBER 8, 11 a.m.: A writing workshop at the Lincoln District Office (750 E. 38th St.) with River Jones, poet and member of the performance troupe, Intellect Gang. Lunch will be served, too!

OCTOBER 15, 2 p.m.: Writing workshop and open mic at Write253 headquarters (1310 MLK Way). Refreshments served!

OCTOBER 20, 5 p.m.: Ekphrastik workshop with Michael Haeflinger at Tacoma Art Museum. This special workshop is in conjunction with the 30 Americans exhibit opening September 24. The event is free and part of 3rd Thursday.

OCTOBER 256 p.m.: Writing workshop and open mic at Write253 headquarters (1310 MLK Way). Dinner served!

NOVEMBER 12, 2 p.m.: Writing workshop and open mic at Write253 headquarters (1310 MLK Way). Refreshments served!

NOVEMBER 22, 6 p.m.: Writing workshop and open mic at Write253 headquarters (1310 MLK Way). Dinner served!

We will be adding more dates in October and November. Plenty of time and space to get your writing on!
